JB'S TOP LOOKS FOR THE CHRISTMAS BREEZE

Living on a tropical island doesn't allow me to really go full force with all these "top fall trends". I love winter clothing, HATE the cold, love the clothing:). In Jamaica we don't experience drastic season changes, our summers get hotter yes and around this time as we get closer to December we get a slight 'Christmas breeze' but nothing to really make us change our wardrobes that dramatically. I'm always excited for this time of year though cause it means at night and MAYBE sometimes in the day I can back out my cardigan, stockings or maybe even a shawl! yayyy!... Remember you can always keep up with the trends but make sure it suits your climate!..Don't go out buying a trenchcoat now or a cape if you're living where I am! It just doesn't make sense. So these are my top 'Christmas breeze' looks and must haves!

Camel colored pieces were popular during this year's New York Fashion week runway shows. It's a color thats been hot for some time now and its still going strong for the upcoming season. Instead of camel colored trenchcoats or capes look to wearing neutral tones in these other hot pieces that are still great if you're in a warmer climate.

Capes were seen on a lot of the runways as well, but we know better, we can't wear actual capes when the sun is still blazing. But some smart person made cape styles in these lightweight pieces of clothing. Tees, dresses and even a cute feathered cape, perfect with a LBD at night or flared skirt.

OK, so I'm a big fan of harem pants. They're always cool with a cropped tee, tank or bodysuit. Its a very cute and easy look. Graphic prints on pants was also a big trend spotted for fall. I decided to find graphic prints on harem pants but if you're not a fan, graphic prints on leggings are also cool. Athletic pants like these from forever21 in knit and denim can be dressed up wth heels as seen above or with flats. These pieces are extremely versatile, a closet must have!

You're probably thinking... fur??? hmmm not so sure.. About five years ago I wore a black and white fur vest to a party with a tank and skirt, but the night was chilly so it worked! lol. Looking back I think it was probably still a bit too thick, but a less bulky fur vest paired like the ladies above have done is something that can be worn if you're in a warmer climate. Fashion over style dem seh??? lol...only sometimes of course...But this should ONLY be done at night.

CROPPED TOPS! I can't get enough. But for those chilly nights you can always pair a cardigan with your cropped tank or go for a cropped sweater like the ones above. Cropped winter tops were seen on the runway as part of a heavily layered ensemble. But for warmer climates, if you wear a cropped sweater you can risk exposing your legs in shorts or just go for some cool cigarette pants.

When wearing leather or suede in warmer climates its good when paired like the looks above. A suede zipped up jacket with cutoff denim shorts, or a pleated mini. Leather red shorts are also hot for the season when paired with stockings at night time. The shorts should not be fitted though, an extra room makes it look less 'dancehall queenish'. Rihanna pulls off a cool daytime look with a denim shirt tied and a lightweight scarf if things do get a little chilly.

Wedges and scarves are perfect additions to the previous looks. A lightweight scarf like the one Rihanna wore in animal print brings a certain edge to any outifit and will add some extra warmth  for the cool days and chilly nights, without doing too much layering. If you want the look of a boot without all the coverage, these wedges are a perfect item to get out of the sandals for summer and "brave" the tropical christmas breeze of fall!
