How can we not start this list without mentioning our favorite starlet? Priyanka’s entry into Bollywood was nothing out of the ordinary. She was crowned as Miss World 2000, and in the year 2002 she made her debut in the Tamil film Tamizhan. Initially being branded as a beauty queen and not landing on too many serious roles, things changed when she acted in the movie Aitraaz. In the film, Priyanka played the antagonist, and her acting skills received widespread acclaim for her vixen like on-screen persona. She even won a Filmfare Award for best performance in a negative role for the movie. Her foray into Hollywood began in the year 2015 after she was cast in the action-crime television show, Quantico. This made Priyanka the first South Asian woman to headline a foreign television show. Her big-screen Hollywood debut was in the form of the 2017 movie Baywatch. Once again, Priyanka expertly donned the cap of the villain, but the film didn’t do all that well at the box office. Despite these setbacks, the actress is known for her never back down attitude, and we’re sure she’ll rise to take over both Hollywood and Bollywood with her talent.
2. Irrfan Khan

The talented next door Khan made his big-screen Bollywood debut with the 1990 critically acclaimed film Ek Doctor Ki Maut. His early roles were mostly supporting characters and he was never under the spotlight until he made his entry as a lead actor in 2005. His first role in a lead performance in the movie, Rog won him rave reviews from critics who praised his command on screen. The actor kept spawning valuable films with his stellar performances in Mira Nair’s The Namesake and Anurag Basu’s Life in a… Metro. In 2007 Irrfan made his initial Hollywood appearances in the films A Mighty Heart and The Darjeeling Limited. He received widespread recognition and commercial success for his powerful role as the adult version of Piscine “Pi” Patel in the film Life Of Pi.
3. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The South Indian beauty who went on to get crowned as Miss World 1994 made her acting debut in the Tamil film Iruvar. Despite the film not receiving favorable reviews, Aishwarya persevered and in 1999 starred in the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam which became a turning point in her career. The actress received a Filmfare award for Best Actress for her powerful performance in the role. Her movie Devdas received critical acclaim and her role as the lead character’s love interest, Paromita won the hearts of millions and was even premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Aishwarya Rai has acted in many Hollywood films as well. She acted in the movies Pink Panther, Bride and Prejudice, Mistress of Spices and The Last Legion; her performances in the movies Bride and Prejudice and The Last Legion being the most remarkable.
4. Anil Kapoor

Anil Kapoor made his Hindi film debut in the 1979 film Hamare Tumhare in a small role and then starred as a lead actor in the 1980 Telugu film, Vamsa Vruksham. However, he gained widespread recognition in Yash Chopra’s drama film Mashaal. It was his role in the movie Mr India that propelled him into the superstar status and the movie became a box office blockbuster. His entry into Hollywood began with his role as a TV show host in the British drama movie Slumdog Millionaire. In 2010, Anil Kapoor became a household name after he starred in the eighth season of crime/thriller series 24. With many other projects in his kitty, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next.
5. Anupam Kher

Initially gaining recognition as a theatre actor, it was his role in the movie Saaransh at the ripe age of 29 that brought him under the limelight. He went on to subsequently host a wide array of television shows, and for his role in the Mahesh Bhatt film Daddy, he received a Filmfare for Best Performance. The actor made his Hollywood entries with comedic roles and acted in movies like Bend It Like Beckham and Silver Linings Playbook. The actor starred in his 500th film with the Kumail Nanjiani starred The Big Sick.
6. Deepika Padukone

We all watched Deepika make her big Bollywood debut with the movie Om Shanti Om and receive critical acclaim for her performances in Bajirao Mastani, Padmavat, and many others. Her entry into Hollywood began with her role in action film XXX: The Return Of Xander Cage. She has also dropped many jaws with her stunning red carpet appearances at The Cannes Film Festival and others.
7. Naseeruddin Shah

Considered to be one of India’s finest actors, the actor made his main screen Bollywood debut with the 1980 film Hum Panch. It was his 1983 film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro that won him critical acclaims and the movie joined the ranks of one of Bollywood’s best films. The actor has acted in both mainstream Bollywood cinema as well as Indie cinema. He made his entry into Hollywood with the films Monsoon Wedding, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and The Great New Wonderful.
